Many Germans like to be tan or at least have a hint of bronze tan, but that is not as easy here in the land of the darkest winter on record. Since the real sunshine is kind of scares, some people choose to use tanning beds. It is a very popular thing to do.

However many others choose to use every single sunny day and hit the local beaches. Lots of them are on a lake, or near a small pond, surrounded by that summery Berlin greenness. The two most popular ones are Krumme Lanke and Wasserwerk Teufelssee. Krumme Lanke is a long lake with many green spots to lay down on, that gets very crowded in summer and Wasserwerk Teufelssee is a nudist friendly hang out summer place that host the cleanest water basin around. Other very popular ones are Schlachtensee which offers a serene landscape; or the Strandbad Wannsee with its 1.3 km long sandy beach lane. You might also want to check Strandbad Müggelsee (the biggest lake in and around Berlin), the Strandbad Tegeler See (with its beautiful white sands, water slides, and ball game fascilities.

and the Freibad Underfunding (which offers open sunny space, a lake and small, but cute sand lines).

Last but not least, you can choose to get a tan at some of the many local outdoor swimming pools. Yet if you dent get there early enough you might end up waiting for hours just to get in.

Oh and there are all the parks and stone stairs around the city, that could be easily tuned into tanning spots.
