The Bird is a New York style restaurant in Prenzlauerberg (there is one in Hamburg as well) focusing on to-die-for burgers and steaks. It is the place for meat lovers, although there are some veggie options as well. The build your own burger is also a choice. Serving a great Angus Beef and grounding their burgers on the spot, the Bird’s menu has neither frozen patties, nor frozen french fries. Not that you would want them anyways.

And since you are there already, make some room for the real taste of home-made new york style cheesecake. As a vivid cheesecake lover, I have to admit you can’t rally get the US style cheesecake around. Fortunately, the Bird does it good, but unfortunately the cheesecake is not always available.

A happy hour, also known as the Angry Hour Beer, runs between 6pm and 8pm, during which you buy one beer and get the second one for free. (that rule is only valid when you order at the bar)

I would recommend getting a reservation unless you plan to eat out early in the evening. Around 8pm and 10 pm there are hardly any tables available.

The prices are fair, but not modest and cash only. The place has its own attitude If I might say. The Bird has three main request/suggestions for its customers: be patient when busy, try to eat your burger with your hands (its just weird eating it with a fork and a knife) and don’t kill the flavor of the meat by getting it well done! Now, it’s up to you of course, if you are are to follow all, if any, of these rules.
